Knock Through and House Extension
Having decided to put a small extension in the back of our kitchen and knock through the existing rear of our house, we were pointed in the direction of Tony Howard Building Services through a mutual friend.
We booked Tony in 7 months ahead with the plan to knock through and complete the plastering while we were away on holiday as we would be without a kitchen, so timing was important. Tony was only too happy to accommodate, and completed that stage to the day!
Tony and his team are friendly, professional and very respectful of your way of living. They always arrived on site on time, set themselves up and started work at an hour that didn’t interrupt our neighbours.
Every step of the way Tony kept not only my husband, but also myself involved and informed of what was being done, what was needed and approximately how long each stage would take.
From dealing with the building inspector, to communicating and coordinating with the quantity surveyor, Tony was extremely knowledgeable and experienced.
If the weather turned against us, Tony always notified us whether the team would or would not be on site, there was never a day when we didn’t know what was happening.
The workmanship, the tidiness, the mindfulness of understanding that we were still living on site, and ensuring our dog was kept safe, he happily worked around.
There is not one area of the work that Tony has done for us that we can fault. In fact he went above and beyond and worked tirelessly to get our extension finished for our return from holiday, which he did, and we trusted our home in his hands while away.
We would happily share our experience to anyone who is considering using Tony and we’d have no hesitation in highly recommending him for any building works.
Friendly, professional and just outstanding workmanship.

House Extension
My wife and I employed Tony and his team to complete a 2 storey extension to our property in March, completing in mid-June.
During the process of agreeing on the scope and cost of the project, Tony was very helpful in advising us as to the best use of our space and also in explaining the implications of specific requirements. Although we worked from plans drawn up by a third party, Tony quickly got to grips with them and was clear in ensuring we understood that once building commenced any variations may drive additional cost. This honest and upfront approach was much appreciated and meant that we were adequately prepared for any cost variations that came about as a result of changing requirements.
Tony’s team of employees were exemplary in the services they supplied and in particular the bricklayers (Mark and Nick) and the main labourer (Darren). The nature of the job meant that these 3 men spent a good 2 months on site and I don’t recall any of them missing a day or arriving late. They started at 8am every day without exception and alongside completing the tasks in hand were courteous and friendly in the face of our 3-year-old son’s constant questions! I would also strongly endorse other members of the team Tony employed (our roof extension looks brilliant) and not forgetting Steve the electrician who also had daily conversations with our son. Alongside the work they all completed their attitude and approach helped make a potentially stressful situation much more bearable for the whole family.
From the initial meeting through to completion Tony was professional and driven to deliver the build as efficiently as possible. On several occasions, Tony spoke to suppliers of services on our behalf to ensure they met ours and his expectations ensuring they returned on the rare occasion they hadn’t met them to re-do or complete a task. Where additional cost was incurred this was only added following consultation and discussion of the options available and was in the vast majority of occasions done at our behest.
Most importantly the extension itself looks absolutely fantastic and we couldn’t be happier with it. On this basis, alongside those outlined within the rest of the letter, we would have no hesitation in re-employing Tony or indeed recommending Tony’s building services to future customers. Should you require further details please don’t hesitate to contact me directly.
Yours Sincerely

Loft Conversion
We decided to convert our loft into a bedroom to help with space in our family home. After having acquired three quotations from different building companies we decided to use Tony Howard Building Services as not only were they competitive but Tony took the time to meet with us, on numerous occasions, and explain the quote and reassure us of any details that we didn’t understand. This is the first major building we have ever had done on our house and have lived here for 20 years.
From the beginning Tony’s communication with us was excellent. He kept us informed as to when he would be commencing the work and organised the materials and scaffolding to be here prior to the builders commencing. Tony would also contact us in the evening or at the weekend if we needed to discuss something with him and had missed him during the day when we were at work. We totally trusted the tradesmen on site as we were out and our two children were at school. The builders kept the disruption to a minimum and always thought of us i.e. made sure we had electric before they left.
There was staff on site every day and they were always here by 8 o’clock. They were very respectful and polite. They cleared up after themselves every day and even made sure our dog was kept in the lounge and didn’t escape!!
Tony was here on-site and dealt with the building regulations for us. He has a good understanding of the regulations and dealt with any unforeseen problems that arose. The project was completed within the estimated timescale.
We would like to thank Tony and his team for all their hard work and professionalism during this project and would have no hesitation in recommending his company to our friends and family. We would be more than happy if anyone wants to contact us or come and see the loft conversion.
Yours Faithfully

Home Extension Testimonial
Tony and his workers have just finished work on our house, which comprised of a kitchen extension, downstairs shower room and extension to roof dormer.
Prior to our appointing Tony as the builder we had a good meeting with him and he provided us with a detailed quote.
They started on the exact day they specified in advance with us, finished on target and on budget. They were at our house by 8am every morning without fail and were always cheerful and polite. They also cleared up before they left every day and ensured that what remained of my existing kitchen was left in a usable state so that I was never without a sink / washing machine / cooker etc.
On several occasions we asked them at very short notice if they could either do some extra jobs or change something we had already planned and nothing was too much trouble.
Tony has a very good knowledge of building and planning and on several occasions made suggestions to us which turned out to be much better than what we had originally planned. He dealt with the council planning / building reg officers on our behalf and we could just go to work each day and leave it all in his safe hands.
We won’t hesitate to use him as our builder again if we require any more work done and have already recommended him to our family and friends.
He is also very knowledgeable regarding chicken keeping and gave us lots of great tips for our chickens!

Major Building Works Chertsey
This is to confirm that Tony Howard Building Services were engaged by us to undertake major building works at The Grange Retirement Home.
As the former owner of a Building Contractors and having undertaken property refurbishment of his own, the writer, prior to the commencement of works, spent several hours with Mr. Howard, inspecting a number of his former building sites. Mr. Howard was in fact one of three companies who tendered for the work and was selected not only by reference to the quality of his previous work, but also as a result from conversations with some of his former clients.
Although the original contract was to build a Shaft followed by the construction of two extensions to the existing flat roofs of the property, it was decided at an early stage to completely refurbish almost the entire property internally and externally, parts of which being over two hundred and fifty years old.
During this period of major renovation and refurbishment throughout the whole building, Mr Howard and his team, in conjunction with some of our own sub-contractors, had a difficult task as we wanted, as far as possible, to carry on with business as normal.
With existing Residents, and Visitors, together with the watchful eye of an experienced and critical property developer, Mr Howard and his team had to cope and contend with a number of issues and conditions beyond the remit of any normal building contractor, all of which were coped with admirably.
Prior to works commencing, The Grange was a 42 bedded care home spread over 2 floors, with the 2nd floor being taken up with accommodation. After the completion of the building works, The Grange is now a 62 bedded Care Home (all rooms are fully en-suite) spread over three floors and has had a second shaft and lift installed.
Tony and his staff proved to be hardworking, reliable, trustworthy and thorough in their work. They were entrusted with a key to one of the entrances to enable early morning starts and worked within the strict guidelines of health and safety with a great regard to the welfare and safe being of the Residents, Staff and Visitors.
The quality of their workmanship is high and the workmen proved to be very helpful & pleasant and we would have no hesitation in engaging their building services again should the need arise. Attached to the electronic version of this letter are some pictures illustrating some of the works in various stages of completion and if the reader requires further information or would like to examine some of the craftsmanship we would be happy to accommodate. In which case please contact the writer’s PA, Mrs. Nadine Hang, to make suitable arrangements to visit.
Yours Sincerely
